Projects to finish before the end of summer (sob).

I’m trying to keep myself honest by posting a to-do list for the remaining two-and-a-half weeks I have left of the summer. Lord, just writing that made me shudder. How does it go so fast?

This mirror has been sitting in my garage for about three years now. I always intended to do SOMETHING with it, but I didn’t know what. I put it out at the yard sale, marked $5, and though it had many admirers, everyone agreed that it was too big a project to undertake.

It breaks my heart to see the damage done to the detailing on this.

The stuff at the bottom is damaged the worst. So here’s my plan: I think I’m going to clip off the bottom since it’s beyond repair, and spray paint the rest. Is that crazy? I mean, I don’t think there’s any way to officially repair this thing and even if there is, it’s way beyond my capabilities. So I’m trying to decide what color. Should I go kind of muted and respectful or use a wild, bright color to contrast with its age? I think I’m going to order from one of these colors, I just haven’t decided which one.

Second project: I have grown to hate the way my white-painted busts look.

(I love the silliness of that hat on the bust in back!) I just hate the stark white against the more faux-antique-y look of the other two and I don’t think I want them all to be white. So I’m going to have to come up with a complementary color. Suggestions welcome! Time is ticking!

Into Vintage I think I can help you out here. If you feel the need to do something with that mirror, just put it in a box and send the whole crumbling business to me.

And then you can cross it off your to-do list. 🙂

PS $5?! I would have jumped for joy!

Lara Jo I know, right?? I kept saying that about several things that were left at the end — “They’re crazy! Why, I would’ve bought that in a New York second for that price!” Too bad I can’t shop at my own yard sale.

Hope your summer is going well!!
