Favorite Finds: Ephemera.

You guys should see my craft stash — it’s insane. For many years, I couldn’t pass up any kind of vintage paper — I had such lofty ideas of what I could do with all of the delightful graphics I was hoarding. Of course, I never got around to creating anything amazing and with the babies now, it’s unlikely I ever will. I’m trying to get around to putting together some ephemera packs to try and sell on Etsy but things have been particularly hectic around here lately. BUT, I did get a new scanner, and thought I would show you some of my favorite ephemera from over the years.

Starting with my photos.

I got hooked on photo booth photos about five years ago and started buying lots off of eBay. My grand idea with these was to use them to put together assemblages that combined the photos with stories I wrote about them. It seemed to me that all of these photo booth pictures had such mystery about them, that it wasn’t just  a casual photo being taken but that there was always a purpose to it.

Take this lady. On the plain side, she is, though I love the intelligence and sense of humor that is clearly displayed on her face. What inspired her to take such coquettish photos, in which she obviously tried very hard to show four very different sides of her personality?

This one makes me sad. The babies look so distressed, and it’s a little disconcerting how the man’s expression never changes — he looks to be in shock, trying to handle them both at once (I can relate). There’s a story here, for sure, but I’m not sure I want to know it.

One of my favorites. Aren’t they dashing?

Hello, Cowgirl! You’re adorable.

Love that this dude had a change of clothes. CLEARLY he was sending this to a romantic interest.

Fast friends from the late sixties, early seventies.

There’s always a certain poignancy with the ones with servicemen in them.

And we’ll finish with a scary one. This dude freaks me out. Like, I’ll bet he took this photo, sealed it in an envelope, and left it on the front door stoop of the girl he was obsessed with with a note that said, “I’M WATCHING YOU”:

Shivers.
