I can smell the yard sales in the air…

…well, not yet. But almost. Here in Chicago, Saturday was beautiful — lots of sunshine and warm temperatures. (Sunday was cloudy and cold, but, hey, I’ve learned to be happy with what I can get when it comes to weather here.) There weren’t any yard sales yet, but I hit three or four estate sales, and man, did it get my yard saling blood going. Most of the estate sales were on their second day, and I realized that I might prefer that — the prices are lower, there are no crowds, and, with all that space to yourself, you can look in all the nooks and crannies. AND I don’t have to get up early! But, of course, I’m probably missing out on the best stuff…I have a constant inner conflict: I don’t like getting up early, I don’t like crowds, and I hate that feeling of being elbow-to-elbow with a hundred people who are after the same stuff I am…but I can’t help wondering what I miss out on by not being the early bird.

Look how girly and flowery these look all together! From left to right: three Lefton switch plates, a tiny ruffled-edge milk glass vase, vintage trim (can’t resist!), a GIANT candy dish? peanut jar?, and more apothecary-type jars, which I got at the Economy Shop half price. (I also got my favorite buy of the day at the Economy Shop — haven’t taken a picture yet but will show it soon!).

It was a lovely, relaxing day…and makes my mouth water to think about the yard sale-packed weekends that stretch in front of us! Game on!
