My bathing beauties.

I bought these at a Little Rock yard sale one summer while I was visiting my parents. There were four of them — I broke the fourth on the way out to the car. I love that. That’s my favorite, when that happens. Something has existed in perfect shape for fifty years and I have it in my hot little hands for thirty seconds and manage to break it in half.

I just love these. They are so delicate (hence the immediate breakage). They’re no bigger than two inches.  Each one has a different tiny bathing suit on. Look at the little bow on the bathing suit bottoms of the one in the middle…and the curve of their calves. I’m flummoxed by their hair though! Two of them have grey updos. It just seems an odd contrast to their sassy little bathing suits.

I paid a quarter each of them. Worth every penny.

Leilani Hi there, I saw your guestpost on BackGarage… I’m from Arkansas too– Fayetteville and go home once or twice a year (I’ve been living in Chicago for a little over 2 years). I enjoyed your post on the ornament wreath, I don’t have enough vintage ornaments to do it though!

Lara Jo HI! I found your blog over a year ago and lost the link to it and have been looking for it ever since — I was reading it long before I realized you were from Arkansas and was definitely hooked after I realized that. Thanks so much for visiting and for reacquainting me with your site — I’ll add it to my blogroll now so I won’t lose it again. My husband and I are from Fayetteville, too — Justin was born and grew up there, I went to college there, and my brother and his family still live there, so we visit frequently…so nice to talk to someone else from the old hometown! Thanks for commenting.
