I’m probably late to this party, but have you guys seen houzz.com? A HUGE collection of interior photos to use for ideas and inspiration. I did a search for “vintage”…I will see you in March, when I MIGHT have finished going through all of the photos. Very cool resource.

I check in with Timeless Vixen on Etsy about once every two weeks. Check out these photos of dresses that are currently for sale in her shop.

I can’t imagine a more lovely life. Travelling around, digging into people’s attics and basements (at least that’s how I picture it), and rescuing forgotten dresses from the dark corners to which they’ve disappeared.

Then you get to spruce them up, shake them out, steam them straight, and restore them to their former glory.

So, reader Ord-Red is a pro at removing rust from metal objects and/or spray painting metal — here was her advice when I asked her about her methods:

I personally think it’s usually best to sand away rust. Otherwise it’s like the slow drip drip drip of destruction. And who would want to see a cool vintage piece destroyed?! I’m an awful painter — but so is everyone else. You just get better with practice. The real secret to spray painting for beginners is to work outside if possible (more room and fresh air) and to stand back from the piece and make sweeping passes with the paint. Standing back means less paint makes it onto the piece, but then you get to slowly build up the color without creating a goopy mess. It’s a slower process, but less chance for error. If you do get drips or goop, then let it dry, sand it off and retouch.

Post pictures if you do work on the pieces. I’ll be excited to see your efforts.

I am left wondering why Ord-Red does not have a blog of her own!

Dude. DUDE. Where does this person get her incredible dresses from? You must look at ALL of them and check back weekly. Her merchandise turns over pretty much on a weekly basis. The only problem is you need to have a 25-inch waist to wear most of them. Were I a petite girl, I would ONLY get clothes from Timeless Vixen.
