What’s your sign?

This week I made pink and cream signs to take up to the booth. This one is my favorite.

This one is less successful. I really wanted one that said “fresh cupcakes” but there wasn’t room. The 2-foot boards really only have room on them for something very simple; I think this one has a little too much going on in it.

I really wanted some embellishments for these that are a little more romantic, cottage-y style, but man, those appliques are expensive. Then I found this awesome tutorial online about how to make your own plaster embellishments.

I followed her instructions to the T, even using the same mold she used, and it worked like a charm (well, I couldn’t get those fern leaves to come out of the mold in one piece, but once you glue them to the sign and paint them, you can’t tell they’re broken into pieces). I just wish I could find some additional, interesting molds to use.

Thank you, Polka Dot Closet, for your very clever idea and the tutorial!

Shannon LOVE the signs you’ve been making. I am definitely thinking of a phrase I want for my very own sign that I will commission you to make! 🙂

Lara Jo Tell me what you want it to say and I’ll make it for you! I’m a sign-making machine these days!
